PROFESSOR
Dr. Hsian-Rong Tseng joined the faculty of David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in 2003. He is currently a Professor of Molecular & Medical Pharmacology, who also holds joint memberships in the California NanoSystems Institute, Crump Institute for Molecular Imaging, and Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center on the UCLA campus.
His research interest falls in developing nanotechnology-enabled diagnostic and therapeutic solutions for cancer and genetic diseases. Dr. Tseng’s research team has been working to develop in vitro molecular diagnostics (IVMD) technologies for applications in the fields of cancer and prenatal diagnosis.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, RESEARCH PATHOLOGIST
Dr. Zhu is an Assistant Professor and Research Pathologist at UCLA. Her research interests are exploring the unique potentials of liquid biopsy markers, including circulating rare cells and extracellular vesicles (EVs) to facilitate the clinical translation and validation of cancer and prenatal diagnostic platforms. She is currently the contact-PI of one NIH R01 and two NIH R21 grants. Dr. Zhu is also a trainee in the Training Program in Translational Science (TPTS) at UCLA.
Before joining UCLA, Dr. Zhu was a clinical pathologist who had accumulated extensive hands-on experience in the fields of cytology, surgical/ molecular pathology, and liquid biopsy. She was also in charge of a molecular diagnostic laboratory, where she developed and validated a collection of laboratory-developed tests (LDTs) for detecting oncogenic mutations for cancer targeted therapy.
